Hello there.

Burra Bike & Board is owned and operated by Culburra Beach local James Morton (‘Morto’), and his wife Lucy, along with two salty groms and a scruffy beach hound. Morto grew up surfing the South Coast from Gerroa to Jervis Bay, and exploring the Shoalhaven River from his childhood home at Longreach, west of Nowra.

After a stint travelling the world, completing tertiary education in Central West NSW, and working in Sydney, James returned to Culburra Beach, which he still rates as one of the best surf spots for beginners and experienced frothers alike.

Burra Bike & Board was borne out of the sense exploring by bike, board, or paddle was the best way to experience our South Coast villages.

“Learning to surf and fanging around on a bike makes for a great holiday, whether it’s a family,
couples, or bunch of friends,” James explains.

Local knowledge of the area and conditions is another part of the hire service that sets Burra Bike & Board apart. Knowing where to go based on your experience and the weather, wind and swell conditions at the time makes all the difference to whether you have a fun day or end up battling the infamous ‘NorEaster’ the whole time.

How we work

We are open ALL THE DAYS!

We can deliver hire gear direct to your door, camp site or even straight onto the sand… All hire periods of more than a full day (24 hours) includes FREE delivery and pick-up, so book it in and enjoy the ride.

Reserving gear in advance is always recommended, and you can do this online, via email or on the phone. Call Morto directly on 0438833512

We also have regular ‘POP-UPs’ around our Three ‘C’ towns (that’s Culburra, Callala and Currarong), where we love selling original merch and chatting about surf, tides, winds and more!

Subscribe to our e-newsletter (we promise not to spam you), follow us on the socials (@BurraBikes) and stay tuned for all the good stuff as soon as it drops.

That’s the Burra!
