Yoga in Culburra Beach

Finding a yoga class to join while unwinding on a beach holiday extends the opportunity to decompress and destress to a whole new level. But how do you find a class when you don’t know anything about the area? Trust us! We know where the locals find time on the mat, so we can recommend some beautiful yoga classes across Culburra Beach, Callala Bay and Currarong.

Regular classes

Depending on what time of year you’re visiting, dropping in on a regular weekly class in Culburra or Callala could be an easy option.

Anna Smallwood from Roaming Yogis brings an invigorating vinyasa flow practice to Culburra Beach on Tuesday evenings (6pm, Nowra Culburra Surf Club, Farrant Ave), or Callala Bay on Thursday mornings (9am, Callala Bay Progress Hall, Boorawine Tce) during term time.

Drop in classes are $25 and mats, blocks, blankets and ocean views are all provided. Check the class timetable including yin yoga classes in the Berry Yoga Shala on the website: www.roamingyogis.com.au

Holiday events

The annual community festival known as ‘Burradise’ often includes free community yoga sessions, so it’s worth checking the festival program if your visit coincides with this fabulous music, arts and community event. The festival is usually held in October and more information can be found at www.loveculburrabeach.com.au.

In 2022, daily yoga and meditation sessions were offered in the Surf Club overlooking Warrain beach in Culburra. Sometimes whales were breaching right out the front of the club while yogis were inside finding peace on the mat. Sublime!

You may also find yoga classes during holiday periods at the Culburra Beach Community Centre. Check class information and other events via their Facebook page: www.facebook.com/culburradistrictscc

Group bookings

One of the best-kept (100% organic) secrets in Culburra Beach is tucked behind the town’s only ‘servo’, through a patch of secret garden or via a garage door painted with ‘Cargo Cult’ that hides a treasure trove of vintage wares.

It is here, in this unassuming eclectic corner of Culburra, that the Yoga Bowl simmers.

The brainchild of yoga instructor Kiran Joy, the Yoga Bowl offers personalised and epicly nourishing group experiences based on ashtanga vinyasa practice, massage, and delicious vegan food.

Partnered with the popular food van Freaks of Nature, this is a yogi’s paradise and must-visit destination in its own right for visitors looking to restore in Culburra Beach: Check them out  at 159 Prince Edward Ave or via the Yoga Bowl socials or https://linktr.ee/yogabowl

Private lessons

There’s no better way to mark a special occasion than to enjoy a restorative yoga class in your own holiday house with your best travelling companions, family or other favourites. Add a glorious beachfront location or headland park with uninterrupted views and the relax factor only rises!

The team of experienced yoga teachers at Roaming Yogis can provide private lessons or beautiful group sessions.

Or you could talk to Kiran from the Yoga Bowl about a customised retreat.
